Selection of O-ring
O-rings are widely used in various industries and have given rise to several standards. The commonly used standards are AS568, GB3452.1-92, Japanese standard P TYPE, G TYPE, British standard series as well as metric o-ring.
AS568 is the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Aerospace Size Standard for o-rings. The standard purpose for O-ring specifications is to specify inside diameters, cross-sections, tolerances, and size identification (dash numbers). A metric o-ring means that the size of the O-ring is defined in millimeters. In addition to being able to create our own molds, Xlong Seals is able to produce O-Rings in accordance with different standards.
The most common O-ring materials include Nitrile Butadiene Rubber (NBR), Hydrogenated Nitrile Rubber (HBNR), Fluoroelastomer (FKM), Silicone Rubber (VQM), Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM), etc. Different materials have different degrees of resistance to temperature, ozone, oil, acid and alkali solvents and wear. Different O-ring materials are ideal for different industries, working situations, and budgets. KAFLON is able to offer acceptable and affordable goods based on your demands.
O-Ring Formulas
OD = 2(d2) + d1
d1 = OD – 2(d2)
OD: O-ring’s outside diameter
d1: Inside Diameter
d2: Cross Section
