What is a spring seal?
Elastomeric seals are critical for a variety of dynamic and static sealing applications, but even industrial-grade standard polymers are prone to failure. This is often a natural result of wear, chemical attack, or incremental expansion/contraction due to extreme operating temperatures. Polymer spring-charged seals are a reliable solution for these harsh operating conditions.
Spring seals are essentially lip seals or U-cups composed of a high-performance elastomer, usually polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). This highly durable polymer sheath is reinforced with corrosion-resistant metal spring energizers to provide a constant load to the lip, creating a reliable airtight barrier to all contacting sealing interfaces.
